Let’s face it, we live in a media saturated world. Technology now influences nearly every part of our lives. Love it or hate it, its there. And it isn’t going anywhere.
But some of us are media junkies. We love media. We own more kindle/ibooks than paper books. Our DVD collection is shrinking while our digital library grows. Our source of news always a click away.
There’s certainly no shortage of great websites and useful sources of knowledge, but I want to focus and draw your attention to 10 of my favorite online sources of godly wisdom.
1. Open Church | open.church
This is a great, ever-expanding site from the team at Life Church under pastor Craig Groeschel. From the popular YouVersion Bible app to Church Metrics and resources for all levels of ministry, this utopia of church resources is sure to help you or your ministry grow.
2. Relevant Magazine | relevantmagazine.com
This online magazine and blog is full of fun, edgy, and controversial Christian topics. Mostly aimed at a younger, millenial audience, you can enjoy their relevant Christian conversations via podcast, youtube, or online articles.
3. Thom Rainer | thomrainer.com
This blog and podcast page is the home of President and CEO of Lifeway Thom Rainer’s research. The podcast is a great conversation based on topics from his and other Christian blogs. This is a great place to stop and learn about trends and current movements in the church.
4. Verge Network | vergenetwork.org
This website is basically a hub for great resources written and produced by those in the trenches of missional communities, discipleship, and church planting. Though fairly new to me, I can say that this has quickly moved up my charts as a place to find useful articles and free ebooks about living on mission for God and being equipped to lead.
5. Elevation Church with Steven Furtick | elevationchurch.org
Everybody needs a motivator, you know, that guy that’s always encouraging you to keep going and telling you how awesome you are! I’m blessed to have a few of those people in my life. But, if you don’t, maybe Steven Furtick can be the online version of that for you. Plus they have some great resources for kids ministry and small groups!
6. Woodland Hills Church with Greg Boyd | whchurch.org
If you are a fan of more scholarly thinking, then this is the site for you. Greg Boyd is more of a theologian than a pastor, but his books and messages take this wisdom and make it accessible to even the dullest of us! If nothing else, make sure you check out this message about the power of using your imagination during prayer.
7. Bethel Church | ibethel.org
With a heavy bent toward the supernatural, this site is loaded with great resources about practical kingdom of God stuff. From books to an online streaming/channel, I guarantee that you will find something from one of the several pastors, teachers, and prophetic voices that encourages your faith.
8. IHOP | ihopkc.org
One of my all-time favorites, this site is home to the largest 24/7 prayer room in America. The prayer and worship is livestreamed nonstop, 24/7 and archived in 2 hour blocks so you can listen to any set, any time. The site is also the home for several streamed conferences, teaching series, and an online Bible school. I’m convinced that the prayer room can change your prayer/worship life.
9. Please Convince Me | pleaseconvinceme.com
As far as apologetics goes, this site might be one of the largest online hubs for relevant articles and free, academic level training. J. Warner Wallace, a former cold case detective and atheist, has put together a massive collection of articles, podcasts, and training to help you understand how to answer practical questions that all Christians face from an increasingly secular society.
10. ChurchMag | churchm.ag
If you’re a bit of a tech nerd, a fan of oldschool gaming, or are involved in creative/tech church work, then you’re going to love the articles and podcast from the team at ChurchMag. With daily blog posts and weekly podcast episodes, the team is sure to inform you and keep you smiling.
